Marg Middleton steps down as first SBA president

Marg has been a catalyst for the association’s progress, initially accepting the president’s position on the founding board with provision it would be for a one-year term.

Now 18 months later, the retired former general manager of Metroland Media Toronto is moving on.

“Marg worked tirelessly for the vision of the SBA,’ said Andrew Petrou of Centennial College, who steps into the interim president’s chair. “Local knowledge, contacts, the ability and willingness to dedicate time and energy – Marg did more than we could ever have asked for.”

During the first months of the association’s life, the SBA has held monthly networking breakfasts, an education forum, a State of Scarborough luncheon featuring Mayor John Tory, sits on many Scarborough economy-related committees and partners with community organizations to fulfil its mandate of building a better business community.

Marg plans to enjoy retirement and continue bettering the Scarborough community with her work in support of The Scarborough Hospital and the Scarborough Walk of Fame among other commitments.

“I am so proud of the accomplishments The Scarborough Business Association has made in a very short time. For a business association to grow and prosper I believe that it takes more than a Board of Directors, it takes a strong and engaged membership and community to provide support and I believe we have built that foundation,” said Marg. “I truly enjoyed all the work I did with the SBA opening doors and forging ongoing relationships which will continue.”

The Scarborough Business Association was founded in 2015 to provide networking, education and opportunity to businesses in Scarborough. For more information, or if you’d like to join, go to www.scarboroughbusinessassociation.com or call 416-972-6482.
